The Lanesborough Club and Spa
As the General Manager overseeing the entire project lifecycle, I played a pivotal role in conceptualising the wellness vision for The Lanesborough, a regency-style grand residence and part of the Oetker Collection of hotels. Renowned for its classic British service and unique charm, The Lanesborough Club and Spa under my guidance has achieved significant recognition, including ‘The World’s Best New Hotel Spa 2017′ and ‘England’s Best Hotel Spa 2018 and 2019’. It has gone on to receive numerous awards in recent years since I left the business.
During my tenure with The Lanesborough, I identified a market opportunity in London’s luxury independent club sector. Leveraging the strong brand identity, I led the creation of a hybrid members’ club and spa, intertwining the brand values into this innovative concept.
This involved establishing key partnerships, integrating specialist training, and upholding The Lanesborough’s esteemed service to develop a premium wellness proposition that catered to some of the world’s most high-profile individuals.
As a result of my input, The Lanesborough Club and Spa emerged as an exemplary independent club with a spa, distinct from typical hotel clubs or spas. This exclusive venue, under my stewardship, offers a luxurious ‘club for life’ experience, combining personal well-being and social interaction in an elegant setting. My comprehensive management encompassed the development of facility content, concept and layout design, financial projections, operational planning, and continuous refinement of services, all resonating with The Lanesborough’s principles of vibrancy, elegance, and a grand ‘home from home’.

The Peak Fitness Club and Spa | The Carlton Tower, Jumeirah
As the Director of Leisure, I restored The Peak Fitness Club and Spa to its pinnacle.
The introduction of reformer Pilates, Brazilian Sculpt and The Viking method classes, and CAPEX projects including the implementation of a sauna, steam room and an entire review and replacement of the fitness equipment allowed us to create a new membership offering.
The Club and Spa which sits at the highest tier of London’s elite clubs regained its status within the industry and a much improved membership base to the point where we had a waitlist despite a rise in membership fees. As a result, there was a significant increase in revenue and EBITDA.
We then devised a membership waitlist which allowed us to welcome the desired demographic. As a result, revenue increased from £2.9M to £3.6M and EBITDA increased from £1.1M to £1.5M.

The Club By Bamford
This project, based at Daylesford farm in Gloucestershire, had been talked about for many years by the Bamford family. They invested significant capital in the project to create the jewel in the crown of the Daylesfod estate. I relocated my family from London to the Cotswolds to bring the founding family’s vision to life.
We enforced a 360-degree approach to wellness, harnessing the surrounding English countryside to host run clubs and cycle clubs, as well as treatments and therapies incorporating ice baths, plunge pools, Photobiomodulation, cryotherapy and padel tennis. Doctors were also based on-site to offer blood testing and analysis.
Throughout its journey, The Club has been featured in publications such as Tatler, Bloomberg, Condé Nast Traveller and has been nominated for several design awards.

Bamford Wellness Spa
When I joined Bamford to begin The Club project, we were met with the global pandemic. With construction one of the few industries unaffected, we took the opportunity to refurbish and extend the existing Bamford Wellness Spa.
The old offices adjacent to the spa were replaced with a luxury retail environment, restaurant, reformer Pilates studio and four additional treatment rooms which transformed the spa into a world-class wellness destination.
The spa won the UK’s Best New Spa at the 2021 Good Spa Guide awards.
